Regional Medical Officer – Central and Western Regions

My father always said, "It takes courage to age." I enjoy working with the interdisciplinary team at InnovAge, and courageous seniors, to keep our worlds large, and our time meaningful.

Dr. Strange earned her Doctor of Medicine (MD) from the St. Louis University School of Medicine, and is a diplomate with the American Board of Family Practice. A Colorado native, she has spent her career in private practice and residency faculty positions, teaching the next generation of family physicians in Pueblo. In 2015, the Association of Family Medicine Residency Directors gave her the Bronze Program Director Award. Under her leadership, Southern Colorado Family Medicine in 2012 and 2015 received NCQA Level 3 recognition for providing patient-centered medical care. Dr. Strange’s husband is also a family practitioner and they have three children. She enjoys volunteering with her church, riding bicycles and hiking.

Emily Dawson Petersen became center director of the Northern Colorado PACE Center in 2015. She was previously the director of development and marketing for SummitStone Health Partners, and has experience in various non-profit and for-profit capacities. Emily is an active community member and serves as a team lead for the March of Dimes’ March for Babies. Emily earned her bachelor’s degree in finance and music from Colorado State University, as well as her master’s in public policy from American University.

Medical Director

Every person has a story and unique experiences in life. Seniors deserve to be able to maintain their dignity and independence as much as possible, which is of the utmost importance to me.

Dr. Richman earned his Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from the University of Buffalo, School of Medicine. He is board certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation. Teaching future physicians has been important to him throughout his career. In addition to leading PACE physicians across all InnovAge Colorado PACE centers, Dr. Richman is also an associate clinical professor at the University of Colorado Medical School. He has worked in leadership roles in private practice and hospitals. He has a special interest in working with stroke and brain injury patients.

Dr. Richman is married, has two sons, one cat and one dog. He has a varied list of interests and hobbies that includes dogs, football and music. He and his wife are recognized breeders of rare Olde English Bulldogges. As a Buffalo, NY native, he is a big fan of the Buffalo Bills. He also played the French horn with the Buffalo Philharmonic.

Medical Director

Aging and illness sometimes make it hard to experience quality living. My goal is to help ease those difficulties so patients can enjoy life and participate in things that make them happy.

Dr. Litvak enjoys coming to work to learn from others, including patients, and is proud to be part of a medical team devoted to helping older adults. Following in her father’s footsteps, Dr. Litvak pursued a career as a physician. She earned her Doctor of Medicine (MD) from the University of Colorado School of Medicine. She has worked in hospitals and private practice, including St. Anthony Hospital Systems and their affiliated clinics. She is board certified in Family Medicine. Dr. Litvak grew up in Michigan and has lived in Colorado since 1968. She is happily married and has three sons. She enjoys many hobbies such as softball, gardening, bonsai, travel, reading and golf.

Dr. Posey earned his master of public health from the University of Northern Colorado. Prior to joining InnovAge, Dr. Posey owned a private practice in Fort Collins, Colorado for 28 years. His passion for working with older adults brought him to InnovAge in 2016. Dr. Posey grew up in southern California. He lived in Arizona and Iowa and moved to Colorado in 1986. He is married and has four grown children. He enjoys photography.

Primary Care Doctor

My goal is to facilitate the best health and care possible. I believe that health is defined uniquely by each person based on their beliefs and values.

Dr. Shamis is board certified in Family Medicine and takes a team-based approach to elderly patients with complex medical and social-emotional needs. Before joining InnovAge, Dr. Shamis was in private practice, and in 2011, he earned NCQA Level 3 recognition for providing patient-centered medical care. He enjoys focusing on wellness, disease prevention and whole-person care using quality and evidence-based measures. Dr. Shamis received his Doctor of Medicine (MD) from Florida State University and completed his residency at the Fort Collins Family Medicine Residency Program. He believes strongly in community outreach and organized medicine, and is an active member of several medical societies and associations. He enjoys spending time with family and friends, and enjoys running, cycling, hiking and exploring Colorado’s best trails, restaurants and craft beers.

Nurse Practitioner

I have gained a respect for geriatric care and my patients.The appreciation felt when providing care is unmeasurable. I love caring for seniors and helping them navigate their healthcare.

Stacey OHara earned her Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Sport Physiology from the University of Wyoming, her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and her Masters of Science Nursing from the University of Pennsylvania. She is board certified in Adult Acute Care. Prior to joining InnovAge, Stacey spent three years at Columbine Health Systems as a nurse practitioner and as a director of nurse practitioner services. Before moving to Colorado, she spent ten years at the University of Pennsylvania Health System in nursing positions in orthopedics and surgery. Stacey is married and has four boys ages eight, six, five, and three years old. They enjoy the outdoors year round – camping, hiking, and swimming. Stacey is originally from Wyoming.
