Making the Case for PACE

Maureen Hewitt

At InnovAge, our passion for the Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) is clear. We believe strongly in this program and, to celebrate National Older Americans Month, I’d like to take a moment to explain why we believe it’s so important for seniors today.
PACE is one of a kind
More than 80 percent of Americans say they would prefer to age in place, and the Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly allows you to do just that.

PACE is uniquely designed with a whole-person approach to healthcare that allows participants to live life safely and independently in the comfort of their own homes. It has been shown to relieve the financial and emotional burden on caregivers, reduce institutionalizations, and extend the lives of participants. There’s no other program like it.

Americans are getting older
With 10,000 people turning 65 every day, we must find a way to meet the rising demand for high-quality senior care in the U.S. The integrated approach of PACE can be part of the solution because it provides support needed to address the often complex medical, functional, and social needs of frail seniors.

PACE has stood the test of time. With its long and successful history of providing community-based, integrated health, and long-term care, PACE has improved quality of care for America’s seniors and reduced overall program expenditures.

Awareness is key
While participation has steadily increased since the program began, there is still room to grow public awareness of PACE on a national scale. With over 12 million seniors dually eligible for Medicaid and Medicare in the United States, we believe it’s important expand this program so that more people can experience its benefits.

InnovAge is committed to spreading awareness of PACE throughout our community to empower seniors and caregivers and address their evolving needs. Learn more about what PACE can offer with educational resources like our PACE Overview, Frequently Asked Questions, and more.
