When it comes to senior care, it’s important to know your options and find the best fit.
If you are a caregiver looking for options, and you are considering the Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE)
for an aging loved one, read this advice from InnovAge PACE center directors.
“Take a tour at a PACE center near you. It’s hard to understand everything the program has to offer without coming to visit in person. It’s not until then that you’ll realize what we mean by comprehensive care – your doctor, nurse, dentist, meals, exercise, transportation, and so much more – all in one place. It’s truly a one-stop-shop, and seeing is believing.”
Visit a PACE center and learn more about the program.
“It’s important for caregivers to know that they’ll continue to play an active role in their loved one’s care once they’re enrolled in PACE. I see it as a true partnership. We partner with caregivers to coordinate across our team, and loop you into communication as we provide that care. We all work together and invest in the participant’s life.”
Let experts help you with the enrollment process.
“The enrollment process is complicated, but rest assured that we are here to help. InnovAge care experts are very knowledgeable about Medicaid and Medicare and will guide you every step of the way. No other insurer or care provider works so hard to support enrollees. It’ll be a ride, but we’ll get you there, so please, try to be patient and know that you are in good hands.”
“When you enroll in PACE, you sign over your care to InnovAge as your insurer and provider. This may seem scary at first for some participants and caregivers because it feels like you’re giving away control, but in reality you gain control of your own care planning.
Also, be aware that enrollment takes time. PACE is a state-run program, which means that there are many rules and set deadlines. We will work with you, but it’s important to be aware of that process in advance and leave enough time in case there are any complications.”
Understand how PACE is different from other models of care.
“Not all states have PACE – especially not the great model that InnovAge has developed. I really encourage participants and caregivers to consider that and take advantage of all this program has to offer. I believe that InnovAge PACE is in a class all by itself when it comes to caring for seniors. It has a proven track record of allowing older adults to continue living on their own for as long as they can.”
“InnovAge is a people-oriented organization. We truly care about our participants and want to enrich their lives. So many people don’t realize that PACE is an option. Our goal through PACE is to keep older adults in their own homes and communities. I’ve worked for over 20 years at many large healthcare companies, and InnovAge is by far my favorite.”
